Along the research road we have come across several interesting people in tiny house world. Please excuse all of the links, but they are all good resources. When Molly saw Andrew & Gabriella Morrison's Tiny House tour video, she was officially hooked. She started designing her own floor plan right away. Of course they are a couple, with different living needs than Molly will have and their furnishings and fixtures are a bit more extravagant than what she is comfortable with attempting. He has an informative website tinyhousebuild.com and we have even purchased his DVD series on how to build a tiny house.
A story that deeply touched me, is that of Sicily Kolbeck. She started her tiny house with her father when she was 12 and also wrote her blog Le Petite Maison, about it. She then lost her father in a tragic car accident partway through her build. After a period of mourning, her community and friends rallied around her and helped her finish the building of her house. One day it would be nice like to meet her. Molly is a Daddy's girl and I can not imagine what it would be like for her to lose him at this age. I wish Sicily and her mom strength, wisdom, and happiness in their lives.
One of our Local Favorites is Chris Saenz of My Bunkhouses. They are a family company in San Bernadino that custom build tiny houses. A few weeks ago we went down there to tour his two models he currently has on site and we picked his brain with every detail we could think of. Chris did not miss a step. He really has a heart and knowledge for tiny houses. Molly instantly felt like he was a kindred spirit. We look forward to him mentoring Molly as she gets her project rolling along.
