Independence Day Cake

The Independence Day Celebratory Dessert will be, (drum-roll please), Gluten Free Angel Food Cake!  FYI, the cake has to be gluten free because my younger brother, Charlie, has asthma and is on a special diet to keep away asthma attacks.  If any one of you have ever tried to make an Angel Food Cake from scratch, you know what a feat a science it is.  Imagine making a meringue/souffle cake thingy.  Our intentions are to eat it as a Strawberry Shortcake for desert tomorrow evening along with:

Brined,  butterflied (spatchcocked) Whole Grilled Chicken
Grilled Corn on the Cob -Store was out.
Baked Beans
Streamed Artichokes
And whatever else suits our fancy!


Invert to cool for two hours.
